Last week, Equitix announced the acquisition of the Seagreen Phase 1 offshore transmission assets in partnership with Kyuden International

Corporation and Kyushu Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Company, Incorporated (Kyuden Group).
The Seagreen Phase 1 offshore wind farm, located approximately 27km from the coastline of Angus, Scotland, is the largest in Scotland and the world’s deepest fixed-bottom offshore wind farm. The transmission assets include subsea export cables, onshore export cables, an offshore substation, and an onshore substation.

EMS will play a crucial role as the MSA provider for these transmission assets, ensuring efficient and reliable power delivery. Our qualified team will provide comprehensive management and operational services from March 21st 2025 throughout the project’s lifetime.

EMS will manage the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) on behalf of shareholders and will be the interface between the SPV and EDF. We will partner with EDS HV Group to ensure the seamless operation and maintenance of the transmission assets. EDS HV Group’s extensive experience in high voltage engineering solutions will be invaluable in maximising the availability and capabilities of the high voltage network and the combination of EMS’s expertise in SPV management offers a strong and reliable partnership for the long-term

EMS is active in renewables and delivers a wide and varied portfolio in the renewable sector. Grant Carmichael, the Managing Director at EMS said: EMS is delighted to provide the operational and management services for Seagreen, increasing our portfolio in the renewables sector while helping to drive the UK’s green transition agenda. Our experienced team is dedicated to ensuring these critical infrastructure assets run smoothly and efficiently for the long-term.”
