We are delighted to announce that on 1 March 2023 EMS commenced providing Management Services at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) in Scotland.
The Project comprises the financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the £212m Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. The hospital provides 344 single ensuite bedrooms, an emergency care centre, a combined theatres complex a women and children’s block as well as an onsite residency accommodation complex. This is the first hospital in Scotland to be 100% single bedrooms for patients. The hospital is built on the outskirts of Dumfries town incorporating the surrounding countryside into the design making it the UK’s first “Garden Hospital”. It was procured under the NPD style procurement model for NHS Dumfries & Galloway.

The building reached practical completion in September 2017 and opened to the public on 8 December the same year. Construction was by Laing O’Rourke and Serco FM provide the Hard FM and Lifecycle Services.

The project is owned by Foresight Group (Pensions Infrastructure Platform) and is crucial in EMS’s strategy to secure 3rd party MSA’s. As part of the MSA transfer, we are pleased to welcome Lauren Hyslop to the business who TUPE transferred on 1 March as General Manager.
