As part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations, EMS had the pleasure of welcoming Manley Hopkinson to deliver a workshop focused on ‘Compassionate Leadership’.
As an inspirational speaker, author, mentor and more, Manley uses the power of storytelling to convey how reflection, discovery and revelation create moments of deep understanding to break down barriers and create long-lasting transformational behavioural change – all essential to Manley’s practiced theory of compassionate leadership.
Manley shared unique insights from his experience as a professional Skipper during the ultimate challenge of the “world’s toughest yacht race”, where he was accompanied by an amateur sailing team to cover 32,000 miles around the globe.
His story helped us to understand the true meaning of resilience and how this can apply to leading with resilience, courage and compassion.
It challenged us to rethink how we can lead and connect with one another (me, you and us concept); highlighting the importance of creating a workplace where people feel supported and empowered to thrive.
When we align personal and organisational values, this leads to more effective working relationships, encouraging us to act with compassion to create a nurturing working culture and ultimately, grow and succeed as a business
