The Highland Schools Project is a network of eleven schools totalling 64,695m² over ten sites situated across the expansive landscape of the United Kingdom’s largest local government area. The schools (primary and secondary) provide an educational hub for over 3,500 children across a vast geographical area and play a dual role as both an educational base and a valuable community resource, providing facilities accessible to the local communities including libraries, swimming pools and sports pitches.

The project was awarded Best Operational Project at the 2024 Partnership Awards with judges highlighting the ‘tangible positive outcomes to the remote communities served by the project’.

This project truly demonstrates how a thoughtful strategy and close collaboration can create a sustainable environment that benefits local children and provides valuable facilities for community groups when aligned with the public sectors objectives.
